I have had problems with my ac since June it is now September and it still isn't fixed. The company they sent out has charged me out of pocket 4 times for Freon and now they want $500 more dollars for a code upgrade that is not needed. Then AHS called to offer me $200 for a $1700 job. There customer service terrible.
AHS has been hot and cold when responding to work order request. Service is slow and the coverage is subject to interpretation. Service providers are mostly qualified, however there must be a relationship problem that makes its difficult for contractors to process work orders and get paid. Trying to speak to a representative takes 3 transfers and minimum of 45; minutes. What's happen to customer service? No sense of urgency to help when failures occur in the home. I would accept consistence as a standard service.

The government needs to step in and shut them down!! Total fraud. I paid my policy 11 months for nothing!! First time I needed service for electrical issues related to my ceiling fan. Lights goes on and off and makes a popping sound. Per contract they’re supposed to fix issues within 48 hours from service request. The Gail to do that. They kept referring me to the same contractor that’s over 45 miles away from me and only services my area once a week instead of finding a contractor from within the HUGE metropolitan area that’s only 15 miles away from me!!
This company is running a scam! Spent 4 hours on the phone yesterday and was promised another contractor with the condition I authorize another $100 deductible payment which I did. Anyway, this gets done by the system so you guessed right a human cannot change to who you’re assigned and guess what? I was assigned the same contractor who’s too damn lazy to service my area more than once a week.
Meanwhile they have 100s of contractors closer to me in metropolitan Houston just 15 miles south and the system won’t assign me anyone. They SUCK!! The trying to cancel my policy was a total nightmare!! With a crazy Spanish speaking woman shouting at me like a demon then when I finally get the person who will cancel she told me I would be refunded $48.99. A minute after the phone call was completed I get this email full of bs with an “Amount Due” PDF document enumerating how much I had paid to date plus an administrative fee for cancelling and the total amount I should’ve paid for remainder of contract and now they’re saying I owe them $30. Mind you, I’m on a month to month basis and you can’t sue them by the way! Now I’m out of $600 and a faulty electrical issue with my ceiling fan.
Absolutely not worth the money. Bought a home and bought American Home Shield....six months later my ac froze over. Called American Home Shield and paid 100 for the service. They dispatched a technician who said the coils need cleaned. American Home Shield denied the claim stating, "the repair is not due to normal wear and tear". However, they cover freon and other maintenance issues. Crazy....just crazy
Super Terrible . They should be give -ve stars .Paid them for 3 years and they don't cover anything . When they are contacted they keep on lying and communication is entirely missing .
Save ur money and don't waste with them .
i put in a request on the 19th of may for my refrigerator, a tech came out on the 21st. they order a part that it needed. it is now the 31st. i been without a refrigerator since the 19th of may. i never seen anything like it. worst company ever by a long shot.
My A/C has been out since May 19,2021. American Home Shield is the absolute worst. Only reason I have them is because my seller paid for them for 5 years. My compressor in my A/C unit has went out 3x in less than a year. Everybody they send out doesn't know why the compressor keeps going out. Instead of finding the root of the problem, all they keep doing is trying to replace the compressor. I HAVEN'T seen my newborn baby in over 3 weeks because of no A/C. My mother in law is on oxygen and has diabetes. Every time the unit goes out, we have to put her in a hotel. My fiancé, she has bad allergies and we have a newborn baby. This is really sad and nobody seems to understand. Everybody sounds scripted, "rest assure we will fix this". I've been promised call backs and haven't received any. I'm the one who has to keep calling. The temperature has reached 94 in my house. They just tell you anything to get you off the phone AND after all this they still want me to pay for refrigerant.
Sent a repairman for my AC. The repairman said I needed a part, but AHS had to order it. It took AHS THREE WEEKS to order the part, then they did “economy shipping” for seven more days of shipping time.
Meanwhile, I called a local HVAC supply co, and they said “sure, we have that part in stock.” Would AHS let me buy it and have their contractor install it? Nope.
Basically their business model is to wait so long that you break down and use someone else and pay out of pocket. Awful service. Avoid, avoid, avoid.
I want to give -1 star to this s-hole company if there is a such option.
They rip me off by taking the service fee and send a wrong company and mark this as a denial from the contractor. In this way, they can keep the service fee without any cost.
No matter how many times I called, no matter how many times I asked for refund and escalation, their trained agent will keep using the excuses like diagnosis was already done, your contract doesn't cover this or I have to wait for the update to push me back.
My husband and I were with them for six years. And in those years things do brake down and fall apart. Nothing out of the ordinary we had some leaky pipes, needed a new hot water tank. Our refrigerator died needed a new one. Washer broke down needed one of those. Also the element in our stove went bad. They replaced that. And a loose wire in our dish washer. We always paid our monthly payment to them on time in those six years. Then last week we get a letter saying are canceling us. My husband called wanting a reason they couldn't give one! My husband wanted to talk to a supervisor. There is no supervisor to talk to as least they couldn't find one! They love taking your money every month. But, they don't like giving their customers money to get things fixed you have to fight for it! I would go else where and by pass this Company. They are money hungry and don't put their customers first!
They are full of it. Currently day 5 with no hot water. Water heater was authorized to be replaced but somehow now I need modifications. Been calling all week for an update on parts and the contractor keeps putting the blame on AHS and AHS is blaming the contractor. Then checked my bank statement and they renewed my contract. I usually pay $53. They charged my account for almost $71. I called and told them to send my money back right now!! I will never use them or recommend them again. Customer service sucks. Phone got disconnected somehow they never even tried to call back so what’s the point in asking all the questions up front, if you’re not going to utilize the information.
AHS customer for over 15 years. I only filled a few small claims. My AC unit couldn't be repaired and they (AHS) refused to pay the claim. After a great deal of back and forth, they required full copy of MY AC replacement cost and only paid $1000. I continued my contract even though they didn't replacement my AC. My credit card on file to pay my monthly contract changed expired date (issued by my cc company). Upon realizing that this occurred I contacted AHS and was told my contact was canceled and the only the thing they could do was offer me a one time $60. Also, I had to start a new contract at a new monthly rate. I asked for a Supervisor to give me a call back. I never received a call. They are a rip off. They take your money and don't want to pay.
Do not waste your money with American Home Shield!!
Home AC failed and 3 weeks later and two (2) technician visits, the 6 year old system is still not functioning. This has been a pitiful experience and I would never go this route again. When purchasing a new home, I would just ask for the cash equivalent for the home warranty and take my chances that if anything fails, the ~$750 will cover it.
I agree with all the 1 start ratings I would give them zero. I have been trying to get a matter resolved regarding my dishwasher since January. They do not honor their policy they really do not want to replace anything after being told by their contractor that the dishwasher needed to be replaced after the contractor has been out several times. When we have called they lie about not receiving invoice that said to replace the dishwasher. They promised to call you back and never call back . no one knows the up line to speak with a supervisor who can give a direct answer to your questions . I have been waiting since January and it is now April. They say now that they are waiting in a part that want be delivered until May 17 it has been very frustrating talking with and dealing with AHS . They debit my account every month with out hesitation or reservation. They now take out the service call fee when you request service. When I first started using them I paid the tech when he/she came out to perform the service now they AHS take it out of my account. I will definitely stop using this home warranty program as soon as what I'm have paid for gets repaired or replaced. They really have no intention to replace the dishwasher.i am getting sick and tired of them and I would not recommend them to anyone and I will call anyone I know who has their service and informed them of how unprofessional they are and they lie and do not respond or honor what they say. I will also make a complaint with the BBB. I will be cancelling my contract for my personal property and my rental property. It is frustrating to think how much they have been paid to have to go thru this mess and. Have to wait 4 months to get a dishwasher replaced. Every time they are called they have to escalated up to another level to get authorization to replace the dishwasher. It us odd no one can give you a contact name or number to speak with anyone who has any power or authority to resolve my concerns.
